Lieder by Schubert, Schreker, Liszt and Korngold, Wigmore Hall London, 2 october 2017

„Anne Schwanewilms gave her usual masterclass, ineffably poised between tone-colour, phrasing and word-pointing. Having hit the heights in Strauss, Schumann and Wolf in previous recitals, she found a deep centre this time in serious, almost operatic Schubert. Regular song-partner Charles Spencer's space and orchestral sonorities helped conjure vast landscapes and epic human emotions in an imaginative programme that touched on the profound.“

„Amazing how Schwanewilms can fleck a single note with gold in mid-flight.“

„More Schubert next time, please: I haven’t heard as sheerly beautiful a sound in his Lieder at the Wigmore since Gundula Janowitz and Margaret Price, and certainly no more probing interpreter.“

„There's so much good stuff in DIE MEISTERSINGER but none comes better than the ›Morgentraum‹ quintet….It was superbly (and beautifully) sung by the opera's five main characters.“

»Anne Schwanewilms is a bigger-voice Eva than most, and she gives the character a compulsive skittishness that verges on the demented."

Bayreuth Festival, »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«, 31 July 2017

»Anne Schwanewilms gave us some fine acting as Eva, particularly good in her cat-on-hot-coals impatience in Act 3, as well as giving a clear, pure, well weighted soprano. The Act 3 quintet – Schwanewilms, Volle and Vogt with Daniel Behle’s David and Wiebke Lehmkuhl’s Magdalena – achieved rare send-you-off-into-dreamland beauty.«
